How Do I Stop Being Me? When All You Can Do Is Write…
“If you meet a loner, no matter what they tell you, it’s not because they enjoy solitude. It’s because they have tried to blend into the world before, and people continue to disappoint them.”
— Jodi Picoult
How do you draw when your hand won’t stop shaking?
How do you write when you're too angry to think?
The jazz is loud and disorienting.
The kid is kicking the back of my seat.
The coffee is lukewarm and nowhere near as strong as I need it to be.
But it’s the only place open this late at night.
My heart rate is slowly decreasing as the saxophone is slowing down…
I can breathe through the pain in my chest.
This isn’t poetry, I just had to sit down and write even if it’s just for a moment.
I’m a provocateur of hatred and disappointment but what else can I do?
I fail at what I try and succeed at what I was trying to avoid.
How do I stop being me?
