Which One of These is Out of Place?

Which one of these is out of place? The fire hydrant seems out of place because it is surrounded by daisies and shrubbery, but who is invading who?

Considering the location, a fire hydrant serves a purpose in the middle of a suburban cul-de-sac. The daisies do not. They simply look pretty but add no practical value to the houses aside from that.

Should they be removed?

One could argue that the daisies should stay because they are naturally springing from the earth. It is the fire hydrant and the houses disrupting the natural order of things. Soon the rainforest will be gone and so will we as a result.

Together, the fire hydrant and the white daisies are quite a spectacle. They complement each other aesthetically against the green lawn and shrubbery. Is beauty reason enough to leave them together?

I took this picture of the scene because it was a stunning sight. The bright, yellow-painted hunk of human ingenuity among a plethora of green stems, like pedestals holding up yellow disk flowers and clean white ray florets. It made me think about the picture. Photography is an art form. But is the picture a work of art, or is the thing that inspired the photograph intrinsically art. If an artist paints a picture of a man or woman, is the painting the art or the person being painted? Something about them inspired the composition of a piece, but isn't it also what draws the audience's interest?

Think of an outfit designed with fine linens. Unless it is placed on an appropriate model, whether human or manikin, it is merely a pretty pile of material. There is something about the way natural things interact with the unnatural that sparks inspiration.
